Mystery woman injects PGI patient in Chandigarh, victim on ventilator

The health of a 25-year-old female patient, Harmeet Kaur, at PGIMER deteriorated after she was administered an unknown injection by an unidentified woman on November 15. Chandigarh Police, responding to the incident, have lodged an FIR for attempting culpable homicide and sought details from PGIMER for their investigation.
Patient's condition worsens after mystery injection
Harmeet Kaur, a resident of Rajpura, had been admitted to PGIMER's ICU with kidney problems after giving birth on November 3. Shifted to the gynecology ward on November 13, her condition took a drastic turn on November 15 when an unidentified woman in her late 20s entered, claiming the need to administer an injection. Despite queries, the woman left without disclosing her identity after administering the injection.

Police seeks PGIMER's cooperation for inquiry
Chandigarh Police wrote a letter to PGIMER, requesting details on the unknown injection, the patient's samples, and any changes in her health since the incident. They also questioned the hospital on security protocols regarding unscheduled visits and injections. Additionally, the police urged PGIMER to constitute a committee of concerned doctors to probe the incident.

PGIMER responded, stating that the police investigation is ongoing. The patient, referred with complications post-delivery, experienced bleeding, infection, and acute kidney failure. She is currently on ventilator support, receiving repeated dialysis, with doctors closely monitoring her condition. The hospital assures cooperation with the police inquiry, emphasizing the ongoing nature of the investigation.
